The structure of the fixed-bed material should guarantee complete mixing of the wastewater and the air that is introduced to the fixed-bed reactor. A homogeneous distribution of the mass flows on the surface of the fixed bed is an essential precondition of an ideal settlement site for sessile systems.

NOR-PACK allows completely three-dimensional flow. The energy required to purge the excess sludge as well as for simultaneous propulsion is thus reduced to a minimum.
The vertical structure of the grid tubes, which are welded together in a lattice, assures optimal removal of the sludge.
NOR-PACK is designed for use in biological wastewater treatment systems and consists of blocks made of UV-resistant polyethylene (PE-HD).
Different specific surfaces are available, depending on the required BOD₅ surface load.
The block design permits flexible adaptation to different basin geometries.
